About Project
This project is meant to alert young boys and their parents about dyslexia. My goal is to inspire children who struggle with dyslexia. These posters are vibrant and have a narrative of winning. I wanted to include humor as well to connect to my audience. Get the kids to notice and listen to the message so they can get the help they need.
I was very inspired by boxing posters for these. Since my main audience is middle school boys I wanted to portray how they may feel about reading. That's why these posters are about a boxing match with a book.
Each poster has a scannable QR code that will read you the message on the poster. The goal is to get the parents to go to the landing page so they can assess their kid for dyslexia to get them the help the need. I want the kid to be very involved. The poster is for them so they will ask for help.
Purpose of the landing page is to get the parent to sign their kid up for a dyslexia assessment. I wanted it to be informative and share how the dyslexia center can help.
The first direction I went for was a super hero idea. I wanted to be very inspiring. I learned a lot about the different types of dyslexia too. and how to make my poster accessible.
For this idea I connected to the feeling dyslexic children may have. So I leaned into this direction for a while. The feeling of struggling and frustration. I thought about using icons.
The photos I took are for my sketches where I was trying to portray the feeling of struggle. That direction felt too sad and it did not work. I switched to a more happy looking poster that was a combination of photography and art. That direction did not feel right for my audience either.
Back to my old idea but with a new twist. The textured shading is is inspired by comic books. This is more interesting for my audience and has an upbeat energy and a sense of humor. Boxing match with a book!
